Kegs4Cncr (K4F) returns this year for the 2nd Annual Kegs4Cncr charity beer festival. And this time with a few changes to the event.
This year’s event will be hosted at Hamilton’s Gage Park on September 22nd from 1PM – 7PM and will take the form as an official charity beer festival with local vendors (beer and food) in participation to support the McMaster Children’s Hospital.
About the event’s cause
Kegs4Cncr is an official Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation endorsed event with a mission of raising funds to advance medical technology for McMaster Children’s Hospital’s Oncology program.
K4C aims to bring people together in the Greater Hamilton Community to raise awareness of the disease that affects us all and to exemplify how far any generous effort can go.
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
It just so happens that September is the official month for Childhood Cancer Awareness, the primary reason that Kegs4Cncr is hosted during this month.
Every year, thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer in Canada alone; many of them needing special care and treatment that requires specialized equipment and tools. Kegs4Cncr’s mission of supporting the Hamilton Health Sciences is to ensure that medical equipment which is needed can be purchased.
Craft beer celebration
Like we quickly mentioned above, this year’s event is an official beer festival with proceeds going towards supporting the cause.
Local drink vendors include: The Hamilton Brewery, Collective Arts Brewing, Nickel Brook Brewery, Anderson Ales, Muskoka Brewery, West Avenue Ciders, Waterloo Brewing, and more.
Each festival attendee will receive a signature keep-sake glass (6.5OZ) and 2 beer tokens. Additional tokens can be purchased for $2 each and will get you a full pour so that you can sample many different beers before sticking to your favourite ones.
Entertainment, food and games
There will be lots of entertainment this year including live music, and a live art performance provided by Smith & Patel, featuring Sanjay Patel.
As for food options, there will be food trucks available the day of, making sure that there is enough variety for everyone, including Oktoberfest goodies!
And finally, there will be backyard style games like giant jenga and tailgate toss.
Ticket and event details
Tickets for this year’s festival start at $25 and can be purchase online at bruha.com/event/3264. Every ticket includes entry, a signature keep-sake tasting glass, and two drink tokens.
For those that show up the day of, tickets will be available at the door, however there will be a limited amount and they will be more expensive than online tickets.
Additional drink tokens can be purchased for $2 per token.
Food costs are subject to the food vendors that will be available.
The event itself will take place from 1PM until 7PM, with music, entertainment and games being available throughout.
