Back to School: Here’s how to make the most of your summer before heading back to campus.
Let’s face it. The thought of summer ending and school starting back up again, just isn’t fun.
But reality check, it has to happen. And it’s going to happen soon.
It’s been a fun and hot summer (you’re probably sweating already just reading this), but as August comes to an end and Labour Day inches closer, we must prepare ourselves. Luckily for you, that’s exactly why we’ve come up with this list of how you can prepare yourself and make the most of your summer before heading back to school.
We’ve ranked this list from what we think is the most important (#1) to the least important (#5).
- Seize the Summer
There’s only a few weeks left before you’ll be heading back to campus, so make the most of your summer by attending an event that’s a little bit out of your comfort zone. Or just stick within your comfort zone, but that’s boring… who wants to do that?
- Get Your Drink On (Responsibly, of course)
Before we know it, it’ll already be December, and you know what that means, right? Yup.. exams! But hey, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Sorry for even mentioning that!
BTS (that’s short for ‘back to school’, in case you were wondering) also means Frosh Week! And by now you probably know the stories you’ve heard are definitely true.
Here’s a very important tip: Don’t show up to a Frosh-week party never having drank a beer before. Seriously, don’t. Check out the Collective Arts Beer Garden for great local beer, and you’ll be the life of the party in no time. (19+ only please).
- Read a Book or Two!
Work hard, play hard.. words to live by!
On top of partying and making the most of summer, also make time to relax. This piece of advice is always better done poolside. Whether with a e-book or a physical copy, you’ll be sure to relax and maybe even learn something new. What’s even better is this will help kick-start those gears for when its textbook time!
- Work a Few Extra Hours
When summer ends, so does the income (typically). Get yourself prepared for this by grabbing an extra couple of shifts or helping out grandma with the lawn for an extra buck. With this being said, keep in mind how far down the list this recommendation is.
- Back To School Shopping
With that extra cash (#4), you might even want to spend it before school starts on a new outfit! But don’t worry; you always want to look your best on the first day of school.
Besides shopping for clothes, make sure you’re also budgeting for some school supplies. You know, those things called pens and even notebooks. After all, remember that you’re headed back for a reason. The work always comes before the play.
