Once-in-a-lifetime must-attend event coming this summer!
Heads up Hamilton & Burlington!
There’s an event happening THIS SUMMER that you won’t want to miss. I take that back. It’s not that you won’t want to miss it, it’s that you can’t!
This must-attend, once in a lifetime event, one-day event, A Day On The Bridge, is unlike any other event you’ve ever been to. And trust me, that’s a good thing. A very good thing.
So move aside cottage visits and music festivals, the real highlight of Summer ’17 is coming your way! Not to mention it’s only 40 minutes from the GTA (sure beats a 4 hour drive to cottage country).
A Day On The Bridge will officially be taking place on June 11th, 2017 at the historic McQuesten High Level Bridge. The iconic bridge will be closed off to traffic in order to support a full day of fun activities including food, drinks, the arts, and live entertainment. During the evening, the bridge will be transformed into a gala fundraising dinner and celebration to cap off the night.
The purpose behind the event is to raise funds in order to purchase and protect land that will become a part of the Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System, one of the most biologically rich areas of Canada. All of which will raise awareness of the value of our shared green space and its vital role in our future.
More info on the day’s schedule and full list of activities will be released closer to the date!

Fun fact about the McQuesten High Level Bride which was originally named the High Level Bridge. It was renamed in 1948 to honour Thomas Baker McQuesten who was the Minister of Highways and a resident of Hamilton that played a major role in making this bridge a reality.
Today, the bridge is recognized as a historical landmark and has been rehabilitated in the past with a focus on preserving its heritage value. However, it’s more than just an iconic structure, it’s a direct connection, strengthening the relationship between Hamilton and Burlington. The bridge also provides us with an amazing view of the surrounding area and green space from above, showing us the importance and beauty of this natural land.
What better way to celebrate our nation’s 150th birthday than to spend time with your family, friends, neighbours standing on a piece of history while at a once in a lifetime event?! Hard to beat, if you ask me.
The initiative really kick-started with Hamilton’s very own Patrick Bermingham and his idea to hold a picnic on Hamilton’s High Level Bridge. From there, the idea transpired into the project it is today. Dinner, games, activities, drinks, you name it.
See you in June!
