Niagara Falls 35th Annual Winter Festival of Lights is Back!

It’s back!

Canada’s largest lights festival is officially celebrating its 35th anniversary in Niagara Falls this year for what organizers are claiming to be its brightest season yet.

The Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights transforms Niagara Falls into a colourful wonderland with millions of sparkling lights and animated displays stretching 8km long illumination route that travels through the beautiful landscapes of the Niagara Parks, Dufferin Islands and surrounding tourist districts.

In fact, each year the Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL) attracts more than one million people from around the world come each year to see more than two million lights displayed throughout Niagara Falls.

The “illuminations include fifteen Canadian Wildlife displays, the Sylma and over fifty trees wrapped in lights in Dufferin Islands, the world’s largest Canadian-American Flag, the light show on the Toronto Power Generating Station, the two-storey tall Zimmerman Fountain, three-dimensional Angels at the Niagara Parks Police Building and a visitor favourite, Noah’s Ark!”

There is also free programming that includes the Fallsview Sound & Light Show at the Oakes Hotel, Laser Light Shows at the Top of Clifton Hill and WFOL Opening Ceremonies in Niagara Parks Queen Victoria Park.

The 2017 festival officially kicks off on November 18, and will run until January 31 of 2018.  Admission to the festival and to see the lighting displays is free, but organizers are suggestions donations ranging from $5-$10 per person to help cover costs.
