Hello! Welcome back to Comedy in the Hammer! Every week we sit down with a local comedian and let you know what shows are happening in the city this week!
We spoke with local favourite Gerry Hall this time!
MS: How long have you been doing stand up for?
GH: What’s your favourite room to perform at in the city?
MS: How do you usually deal with hecklers/got any good stories??
GH: Once at a packed Club 54 I did so bad I wanted to bail early, so to let the host know I was wrapping up early I said, “I’m going to end with this…” and it got an applause break.
MS: What advice would you give newer comics?
GH: Writing/performing as much as you can is obvious – nobody should have to tell you that. I’d tell new comics to ignore all drama in the scene and be nice to everyone.
MS: What’s the one joke you’ve tried over and over again to make work but for whatever reason cannot get right?
GH: I used to do a joke about how I’d drop Q tips on the floor so ants would have a weight room. Made me laugh, not many others.
MS: Where can we check you out online?
GH: Don’t have a website – but if you check out /u/gerryhallcomedy on Reddit – a lot my jokes are on there. I have some of the most upvoted of all time.
MS: Are there any videos we can see online?
